ME 8 - Conflict

ME 8 - Conflict Menu Entrée Assignment – Due Thursday, November 7th
In 100  – 200 words, put your protagonist in a situation where they have a problem.  To develop a deeper, more meaningful problem, think of your protagonist’s values (5-10 things that are most important to them) and try to use the conflict in your story to create an a conflict between two of these values.  Never say what they want, SHOW IT with concrete details.  Include a simile, metaphor and personification and concrete details.  Points will be subtracted if your writing lacks these.  Be sure to use the standard format.
Example:
Sam values school, money to live, and sleep.

Sam sat on her lumpy mattress, painfully aware of the melted mozzarella and pizza sauce smell that floated off of her red work polo.  She shook herself out of a daze and went to take a shower so she could wash off the dough crusted on her worn-out elbows and under her fingernails.  She glanced at the Math 1010 homework still in her backpack on the way out of her room and was reminded of how close she was to failing three classes.  Ten minutes later, she toweled off, grabbed her wrinkled pajamas and sank onto her pillow, refusing to let the tears of exhaustion come.  Tuition was due on Monday, along with her freshman psychology paper.  She started to reach for her scratched laptop, but her hand dropped along with the speck of ambition she had left.   As she focused on slowing her weary breathing, she began to dream she was spreading Canadian bacon on the financial aid form.
